If you think it is, you are probably thinking of the term "discriminate **against**", which is indeed a bad thing. Often, just the term "Discrimination" is used to mean **discrimination against**, but it is different from **discrimination between**. When I discriminate between people based on their color, I simply just categorize them into races. When discriminate against people based on their color, I mistreat them based on the notion that one race is superior to another. Discrimination between things is necessary in our day-to-day lives. Discrimination //against// things is a sickness in our society for which we have yet to devise a cure.
