Digital Rights Management or DRM for short are, ehem, “access control technologies that limit the usage of digital content and devices ”. Thank you, Wikipedia. Now, DRM is varied field of technologies, but I am mostly concerned with the license verification of video games. This involves the use of a connection to a central server to verify the legiticamy of the verification and the installation files. The best known come in different flavors and go as such, in increasing aggressiveness:
